    Principle

    A piezoelectric element such as piezoelectric ceramics or quartz crystal generates an electric charge proportional to the mechanical force applied:
    Fuji Ceramics force sensors are a direct application of this characteristic.

    Installation

    A sensor is placed tightly between two flat and high rigidity plates (upper and lower plates) so that the load is distributed uniformly over the sensing surface.

    Glossary

    •    Sensitivity
        Output per one N(newton). Linear outputs are obtained for up to the maximum usable load.
    •    Measurement range
        Maximum load that can be measured by a force sensor in normal operating conditions.
    •    Overload
        Should a load exceeding the measurement range be applied to a sensor, this sensor does not deteriorate in characteristics. Sensors may not be used continuously under the overload.
    •    Discharge Time Constan(t DTC)
        A piezoelectric force sensor is characterized by self-discharge. The output voltage presents an exponential curve that changes at a proportional rate for a given length of time. The discharge time constant is the period of time during which the output voltage drops to 36% of the initial value.

  • Charge Amplifier and others

    Charge Amplifier

    Charge amplifier will receive electric charge from force sensors and convert it into voltage signals.
    CAB1 is a compact and fixed-gain type model, then the best choice for the introduction into production line and/or inspection process.
    The Reset function by external signal is available.
    Charge amplifiers for accelerometers can be used for force sensors.
    However, they cannot measure quasistatic loads. (They can measure only dynamic loads.)

    Specifications

    Installation

    The mounting surface of the object to be measured will require finishing (please see below), and then a sensor will be screwed with an attached M6 clamping screw.
    Piezoelectric strain sensors have specific detectable directions. Therefore, the mounting direction will need to be adjusted to the strain direction of the object to be measured accordingly.
