Turbine Blade Crack Research
Description:
This test machine is specifically designed to simulate turbine blade crack and other machinery faults for research and educational purposes. The blade crack diagnosis/prognosis can be studied thoroughly using the wireless strain gauges mounted on the blades.

Description
Applications
• Turbine blade dynamics.
• Blade crack propagation.
• Blade crack diagnosis/prognosis.
• Other mechanical fault studies, which include, but not limited to Misalignment, Balance, Bearing faults, Bent shaft, Mechanical rub.
• Induction motor faults, which include, but not limited to, Broken rotor bar, Shorted stator turn, Eccentric gap, Bowed rotor.

Key Features
Key Features
• Variable pitch fan module with strain gauges attached to the blades.
• Telemetry system.
• Weights to change the mass moment of inertia are installed on the rotors.
• An adjustable blade rub excitation device is attached to the baseplate at the circumference of the blades.
• The generator is used as a braking mechanism. The output from the generator is fed to a variable resistor (rheostat) where the load can be easily adjusted.
• Rotor dynamics and most of the mechanical (except belt and gearbox) or motor faults can be studied. Features modular, re-locatable component configurations, convenient instrument mounting, drive train alignment, and robust design.
